Pastoral Care is a significant part of what the Chaplains do i.e. there is a willingness to sit with you, either in the delights or the demands of your life. In doing so there may be the opportunity for the Chaplain to offer a spiritual perspective and traditional resources to support this pastoral ministry.
The Chaplains are offering relationship – a willingness to ‘see’ the things you ‘see’.
Hence, our Hospital Chaplains are likely to:
Invite a conversation, initiated by what's happening to you
Encourage you to share your needs
Better understand your needs and support you in them through caring, listening and clarifying
Perhaps use some of the traditional resources (e.g. prayer)
